The Path of Yoga
Yoga is a universal science for the realization of your true nature that embraces all religions and belief systems. By utilizing the tools of the yogic path: compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, acceptance, and love, you can live a happier and more fulfilling life. Traditionally the asanas, or physical postures, are a means to open up your energy channels (nadis) so that you can receive divine enlightenment. This path ultimately leads you on an inner inquiry and exploration back to your heart and soul through love, awareness, and meditation.
About Me
I live and teach yoga in the San Francisco Bay area, and also in Costa Rica where I'm the Director/Founder of Playa Negra Yoga Center. I’ve practiced yoga for many years, and in 2004 I was formally trained and certified at the “Nosara Yoga Institute” in Costa Rica in the “Interdisciplinary“ style of yoga. I’ve also studied many other forms of Yoga under the guidance of great teachers, and my classes generally include guidance in: Pranayama (breath work), Asanas (postures), and guided Meditation (relaxed awareness). Other topics may include: discussion of the Bhandas (internal energy locks), the Traditional 8 Limbs of Yoga, Mantras (sacred sound or phrase), the introduction to books, dvd's and literature on yoga, and practicing the discipline of yoga in all aspects of your life.
My personal journey into yoga has given me freedom, growth and happiness in ways that I never could have imagined, and also helped heal my body after a myriad of physical injuries. My favorite mantra: “May my every thought, word, and action contribute to the happiness and freedom of all living beings”. In Sanskrit: “Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu”. I offer guidance in the art of Yoga, gained from my spiritual practices (sadhana), and teachings passed down through the ages for the benefit of mankind.
